Minor Tranny Upgrade & truck picture

On a recent trip to southern Utah I noticed my TC slipping a bit while pulling our trailer over the various mountain ranges. When I got home I immediately ordered a new BD tourque converter, valve body and flex plate. They've all arrived and I hope to have them installed next week.

Other than improving the strength of my TC lockup, can I expect any difference in driveability with the new parts installed? Should I ask for any other adjustments or service while the transmission shop is installing the parts?

Here's a shot of our vacation load-out. The trailer is 25' and there are two dirtbikes and two mountain bikes in the back of the truck. Not a huge load but my stock TC has 190,000 km on it and I guess it got tired.

Your tranny should be night and day after the install, the difference in the lockup and shifting will be greatly improved. You wont have that searching for gears anymore, towing the trailer should be improved also. I took a 6,000k trip after doing mine and I noticed quite the difference when pulling through the hills. By the way I was at that campsite in May, travelled all through southern Utah, some beautiful country.

I installed a BD T/C & V/B a little over a year ago. It's tighter and shifts awesome. No 1-2-2-1- shifts and never had a problem (knock on wood).

It also depends who is your installer for the tranny to perform and have no problems that installs it. That is half the battle after you decide which tranny components & company you choose.

What made you decide on the BD TC and not some of the other brands?

The smoked cab lights are on the way, but I'm still up in the air about de-badging it. We'll see.

First priority is to powdercoat the wheels, since the covers no longer fit with the Arrowcraft spacer kit.

I'm excited about the improved shifting. I've also ordered the BD steering box stabilizer which should tighten up the front end a bit.

I would call BD or ask your tranny guy to firm up the shifting even more w/ the BD VB, I had a BD VB and the shifts were too mild. I would think it was because of the line pressure the BD VB was causing. I sold that VB and got the Suncoast Race series, holy crap!!! Just ask some of the guys who've ridin' in my truck, it's insane and your not wondering what gear your in, ever.

True, but I still saved over $400.00 ordering from an American retailer. Go figure

Anyone know if the BD valve body allows fluid circulation while the transmission is in park?
