My uncle has a 2004 cummins with the 48re. He consistantly gets around 12mpg. Hes a dairy farmer and is always makin short trips and his truck gets quite a bit of idle time to. Even on the highway the best he can get is maybe 16mpg. I was tellin him that a programmer might help him out with his mileage. Whats the best tuner/box out there to help him. He doesnt really care about more power, he just wants more MPG. He hauls quite a bit with it and he probably wouldnt be one to spend the $$$ on gauges, so he definitely doesnt need anything thats real hot. I was thinking maybe the Edge EZ on the lowest setting. Any comments would be appreciated

I bought the Quad XZT 65 HP tow module and gained 3 MPG and it was easy to install.

Ditto - Quadzilla's got the best box for efficiency, IMHO... so you get more useable power as well as better mileage.

I also have the quad 30-60-100 hp chip. I gained mpg with mine set on the 100 hp setting and of coarse, driving normal.

Tell your uncle not to idle the truck....These trucks junk up the injectors pretty quickly from idling...Any box that adds pressure to an idler ain't gonna help. Tell him to run some seafoam through a take at double duty then add some meaner kleaner to the next few tanks. The Quadzilla xzt has given alot of guys some good mileage returns...I don't kn ow why as most guys with more power burn more of it....hard not to play with it. ks

TS Ramifier box. Pick up about 100 hp at the wheels and 3 or more mpg. My wifes mileage avgs. about 18-19 city and over 21 on the highway.
