Mild mods for mpg
Hello folks,
This is what I'm thinking, I have an 04.5 3500 qc 4x4 6spd with 3:73s, I currently get btw 16.5 and 18.5 running empty @ 2000 rpms, pulling 13,000 lbs fifth wheel and goosenecks btw 11 and 13 mpg @ 2000 rpm and, right at 16.5 mpg around town. 40,000 mile on the odometer. I'm thinking of getting a AEM Brute force dry air system and cutting the exhaust prior to the kitty and putting a motoblue/mbrp/ or gibson high flow muffler in and a 5" turn down tip to prevent it from 'blackening" my trailers. I'm looking at strictly mileage with out chipping it. In my mind this sure should let her breath and translate into mpgs. Am I missing something? I am really pleased with my second cummins but would love to squeeze 1 or 2 mpgs on my turn around trips.
Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You,
Garry

I'd be pleased with 1 mpg, I also think this has got to be healthier for the entire drive system. I wouldn't mind a chip but I'm looking at purely mpg. I've got the power and plenty of black smoke on demand now. I don't baby it but I don't run 90 pulling my trailers either. My wife and daughter are 500 miles from me and I run the stretch weekly.

Thanks, acook
Nice ruger in your pics. You'll like this. The reason I'm running 1000 miles a week is my youngest daughter is on the National Junior Olympic Shotgun Team and is currently staying with her mother (my wife) at the Olympic Training Center in Kerrville, Tx. You can check her out at www.caitlinbarney.us My youngest grandson is named Ruger..his older brother..Colt....lol So..we shoot just a little bit in the family. I need the 100k warrantee and really try to push the mileage. I've got 5 years until retirement.

You can try the Rokktech crankshaft sensor that adds 2 degrees of timing. Seems to help my bottom end and EGTs.

I considered the rokktech, but it appears I'm getting the mpg and performance the rokktech gives. How does it perform top end pulling?
