Metric Versus Standard Mpg??
Quick question guys. I was looking at another thread about mileage and how a metric setting would be higher. I checked mine and it shows 10.0 mpg on standard and 23.1 metric. I'm no math genius but that doesn't make any sense. It shoulod be closer to 14.5-15 on standard if metric is correct. Any thoughts or ideas on what's going on. This is an 06 auto with just over a thousand miles and the overhead has never went over 10.1, which to me sucks. My first hand calc was like 12.7 standard. Way worse than my 03 6-spd. Could my whole computer be off. Can my odometer be off from the factory? Let me know what you think. Thanks.

about the metric thing:
american is miles per gallon: how many miles you can get out of one gallon of gas
metric is liters per 100km: how many liters of fuel you will burn over a 100km drive.
The higher the mpg, the lower the l/100km will be.
here's a *rough * conversion example:
10mpg = 16 km / gal ~ 4km/liter
4 km per 1 liter, will be about 25 liter for 100km.
10mpg ~ 25l/100km
if I had used the actual value of 3.79liter per gallon, we would have gotten the 23.1 that your overhead indicated. hth.

Thanks. I thought of that on my way to the dealer to pick up my plates. I sure hope the mileage improves. I spent a lot of $$'s on this truck. I was counting on it lasting 10 years and getting 15-19 like my 03. My fingers are crossed.

yep..
the imperial gallon [and its dividends] are useless... my workplace uses them, mixed with american gallons [and soon to be liters]
±15.3 mpg [us gallon] = ±15.3 L/100km
i know when my overhead starts showing 15+ L/100km i have been driving too agressively to even think of getting good fuel economy
1 imperial gallon = 5 us quarts
