MBRP Performance Replacement Mufflers

Morning,

Wanted to let all the members that have had the MBRP replacement performance mufflers on order that they came in yesterday, we shipped a zillion of them and wanted to avert you calling and having to ask if they made it in etc and when you would get them.

Sorry for the delay, but it'll be worth it when you get them.

Well I got mine installed this morning. Took about 2 hours. Most of that was measuring everything several times and getting the old system off. It is louder than the stock muffler but not nearly as loud as my 01 was straight piped. The real test will be Thursday when we leave for a 3 day trip with the 5th wheel. I can say that the stock muffler must be fairly restrictive because I use to get a little smoke when I first took off and now I get a pretty good cloud when I jump on it from a stop.

Hunter11,

You can measure but the length of the stock muffler vs ours it's the same with the S pipe it's longer to mak up the difference, so if you cut out the muffler as close as you can you'll be OK!

Well after our trip this weekend pulling our 5th wheel I am looking for something that will help quite the exhaust down some. Does anyone know of a resonator or something I can install either in front of or behind the MBRP replacement muffler? I don't want less flow but this is way to loud pulling our trailer. Everyday driving is fine but within the first 30 minutes of being on the road with the 5th wheel behind us I was wishing I had not changed the muffler. It is not bad when on flat highway but we live in the Texas hill country and it is anything but flat. Any suggestions?

Hunter 11... Do you still have the stock Cat on there?? I have the same MBRP system with the cat, and it's not that loud. I towed back a 5000lb load with the trailer wt. (1100lbs) and it still wasn't that loud. I kinda want mine a bit louder but not with the wife and kids. I'm surprised yours is that loud. let me know.

Mark... how much are just the replacement mufflers? I have a a guy that wants more sound and I'm thinking I may just install a muffler for him?

I do have the cat in place. Like I said it is fine when not towing anything. This weekend was the first time we have towed the trailer with it. Just cruising down the highway there is no problem but when power is applied it gets down right loud. I don't know what I am going to do but I have to do something.

Hunter11,

WOW I am amazed, we have sold over 150-175 of them and never had anyone say it was loud, in fact to the contrary we have had a lot of folks call back and get the cat delete pipe to make it louder!!?? It's tons quieter than the Aeroturbine kit that others have available, the main reasons we sell so many is the easy install and quiet tone.

Mark, I have no idea why mine would be different. Like I said it is fine in everyday driving and even pulling the trailer on flat highway but you accelarate any at all with the 5th wheel hooked up and it will rattle things in the truck. I have to do something to quite it down some but don't want to loose the money I already have invested. I am open to any suggestions anyone might have.
