Lightman,
No problem that's what these boards are for, INFORMATION. Here's the kicker though you have a complete system and no cat (2003/04 didn't have them) , the MBRP performance replacement muffler this thread is about is a replacement muffler for the stock pipes on a 2004.5+ ( with a 3.5 to 4.0 adaptor it'll fit a 2003/04 too). The sound levels that I am talking about is if you leave the cat in place, if you remove the cat it does get louder but still not as loud as a 2003/04, why I do not know but it does. One of the mysteries of Dodgedom I guess!

Hunter11,
You can probably do that but it will be a VERRRRY small change, not worth it in my opinion anyway. I still think you need to see if you have a cat with anything in it!

What i DONT want.....is to make my truck sound like a V-6 Gasser with duals. I cannot stand that sound.
I am leaning toward leaving the kitty and replacing stock muff with Donaldson or Nelson straight through muffler...and long....like 51".
Any thoughts on this?

I have heard some 3rd gen Cummins powered trucks with mufflers that (to me anyway) sounded like a V6 Gasser with Duals. I didn't like that sound. I am not saying that a 51" muffler would make it sound that way....hopefully just the opposite. That is why im considering one.
I am afraid that leaving the kitty and straight piping will be a little loud when pulling heavy. Has anybody done this.......straight piped....left the kitty and put on a turndown pipe?
These 3rd gen trucks sound different from the 2nds. So I just want to make sure I get the sound im looking for out of it before I plop down the bucks.
I do appreciate everybody's comments on this. I guess I just need to actually hear an 04.5 or up truck with the kitty and either no muff or with a 51" and make a decision and move on with it.
