I don't think I am up to that job myself. The turbo, air horn, and gauges were fun installs. The funnest install is a new tune in my Smarty. I saw the shop doing an install on Desertcheckers truck. It looks like a load of specialized work. Especially with all the training chopstick looking things, the pvc pipe to get tappets out, putting new tappets in, etc. If I dropped a tappet and it got wedged between rod & the block or something, I might start burning things. This is one of those things I am assuming is going to be done one time and one time only.

You can reuse the tappets...that are A OK! It is a weekend project and you really get to know your baby!
It is not really that hard. The only SPECIAL tools you need is 12 1/2" wooden dowels with a slit cut in the end.

The maker of your CAM would disagree...
I left my originals at 125k...they looked great! Heck the OEM cam lobes did not even have much more than a slight swirl to them...and its "suppose to be" the highest wear part in the Cummins. Delo 400 rocks I guess.

New tappets are nice to do. More work. You dont have to do them, but it sure ownt hurt anything.
The retainer bolt takes 20 ft lbs of tq, plus an additional 180 degree or half turn.
