Question Magnets attached to oil filters - worth doing?

Does anyone here use or would use a strong Magnet kit (below) on your oil filter? Seems pretty simple - just traps very small metal partials that could pass through a filter. Does anyone know if this would offer a real benefit? For those who have their oil tested I could see a magnet in use possibly throwing off metal the numbers a bit.

On some of my heave equipment they use a magnetic ring on the oil filters, mainly on the trans and hyd. system. Can't hurt!

I normally put rare earth magnets on the bottom of my oil pans. Those things are REAL strong, from Lee Valley.

I get magnets for my oil filters from dead hard drives. Can't tell if the magnets makes a difference but at least it's free!

I hope you don't get that many dead hard drives!! The one in this computer is going on five years now.
