Mag Hytec Oil Capacity
OK, so this has been discussed time and time again, but I am still confused. I just installed the Mag Hytec rear diff cover on my truck. I have the American Axle 11.5 diff. In reading through the threads I understand that I should now be using 8 quarts of fluid in the diff now. In reading the Mag-Hytec instructions, I should have fluid to the upper line.
I added 8 quarts of fluid, but I am only getting fluid to the lower line on the dipstick. Did I miss something? Do I need to add more? It looks like I might need to add another 2 or 3 quarts to get it to that upper line.
What am I missing?

Yeah, fairly level ground, can't imagine that it would make a couple of quart difference. I thought I miscounted as well, but checked all my empties and there are 8 of them.

Funny. My truck only takes 6. But that's with the truck on a slight incline (front up)
I'll recheck on level ground.
OK I know this was mentioned before and I asked a lot of questions. The GM cover used on the Dodge WILL leak.
I know now.... mine does.
After careful inspection.... it's not the bottom bolt that's the problem. The casting on the Dodge axle is different just to the left of the bottom unused bolt hole. At this point the oring crosses into the cavity.
I put the OEM gasket on in addition to the oring. We'll see.
