I hate to burst the bubble, but I don't think consumers can buy LSD...
The reason a pump will say LSD, instead of ULSD, is because for a company to put the ULSD sticker on their pumps, their entire fuel tank system, however many thousands of gallons it holds, has to have 'x' number of fillings before it can be constituted as USLD....so while the fuel is 99.999% ULSD, it's still classified as LSD, because it's not a true 100%.
as for thinking the truck runs better, or gets better mpg...my guess is its a conicidence.

I still got old LSD diesel being sold here at a gas station on post. One right next door to it has ULSD. They have had LSD since they day they opened. Its a brand new station so the thought of them not putting on stickers isnt likely, since they got stickers on everything else. I buy both, just depends on where I am at and when I need fuel.

Not to be controversial, but my truck was smoking a bit on start up for quite awhile, . . . .I switched to ULSD for the last 8 tanks or so, and no rough idle or smoke on start up. They could be completely unrelated. It may have nothing to do with LSD vs. ULSD, but more about the quality of fuel I was getting at the first station. However, it is a BP with HEAVY truck traffic.
I'm buying ULSD now for $2.79 gal. . . . saw the Bio20 for $2.99 . . . don't have the courage to run that yet, and for $.20/gal more, not willing to pay it.

wellllll TO PUT THE DISCUSSION STRAIGHT!!! i haul fuel for a living, and YES you can still buy LSD, if a station sells it, they have to also sell the ULSD, they have to have two seperate underground tanks, one for lsd and one for ULSD. So its not just them not switching the sticker, in fact they have to buy special stickers just For LSD. From what the refinerys are saying they will continue to Produce LSD AT LEAST till 2010. So thats from the horses mouth.

It depends on the refiner, some refineries here have not yet completed thier ULSD units so they are still selling LSD. Brands do not matter either just because it is branded Exxon does not mean it was made by exxon, just thier additive. The refinery I work at makes ULSD but only sells it at a few places in town, most of it is pipelined to central Texas.
