Loss of top end with Donaldson 51"...anyone else?
I installed the Donaldson 51" a few weeks ago....100% satisfied but I do feel like I lost a bit of top end pull. Anyone else notice this after install? Mine does have the small baffle in it and I didnt smash it out....
I only notice this when I'm at cruising speed (65-75 MPH) and I mash the go-pedal. As before, tranny stays in OD and the truck just takes off...but its almost kinda slow to get "wound up" and start pulling.
Its not a real big concern to me...just wondering if anyone else has noticed this?
Thanks for the input!

Oh yeah...I had an Aero 4040L muffler before the Donaldson...which would make sense as I'm sure the Aero "flows" better than the Donaldson...
On a positive note...my EGTs do rise MUCH slower now when I go WOT now which is really nice....

With the stock turbo....it will feel different for sure....a little lazy. Spool up is probably a little different. With lots of fueling you will see the full benefit. ks

Yeah, spool up is still good on the bottom end but on top, it does seem to spool just a bit slower than before which is understandable...
No matter to me....being able to talk at a normal tone at 80 MPH again is well worth it...

thought it was just me, I installed an aero turbine too and felt like I lost some "torque" as in backpressure. Kinda breaths to much and make me get into the pedal more to make it move. Thinking about going back to something more stock like.

I loved my Aero except for the drone when I was towing. I felt like I didnt lose any bottom end torque when I installed it...
I'm talking about losing top end from installing the Donaldson 51" muffler though...not loss of bottom end with the Aero.

Ryder Fleet Products. I ordered Part Number W26 M090535. It's 5 inch inlet/outlet as is a true straight through muffler. I haven't had a chance to install it yet. I'm doing a whole 5 inch exhaust at the same time.

Go to Donaldson's website, Everything you want to know about their mufflers, size, flow rates, inlet/outlet sizes etc.

I picked the M090535 because it's straight through and has one of the best flow rates of all the Donaldson mufflers. -Glen
