Question Lorenz Dual Purpose Leafs

I have done a search and can not find what manufacture makes Sean's Dual Purpose Leaf springs. Does anyone know? Also are Carli's full leaf packs a dual purpose as well? I was reading about Carli's on his site and they sounded similar to Lorenz's. Does anyone know?

Thanks,

Not really an answer to your question, but be aware that there are two versions of the Lorenz Dual Purpose rear leafs...and the website somewhat confuses the two.

The first generation had a "backwards" set of leafs that were engaged with removable pucks. The second generation (current) look like a traditional spring pack.

I agree 100%.

There's a reason Lorenz is concentrating more on taking pics now then improving his suspension.

It turned out the original Lorenz design with the bumpstops didnt work as hoped, so he changed them up to a design very similar to Carli's. If you look at Carli's pics of their leafs you can see the "overloads" at the bottom of the stack. You might sag a tad, but your OE load capacities are retained.

Just FYI theres a lot of junk in tha bed: a CRF450 weighs 250lbs, two 37" spares with rims will push 300lbs, about 100lbs of tools alone, then count in coolers, riding gear, loading ramps, etc.... I bet theres close to 800lbs in that bed.

800 pounds is nothing in the back of a 1 ton.

It's a 3/4 ton and it is something when you run purpose built leafs.

It is if all you do is play with your truck. If you want to work it hard too, then throw in the Carli LT bags, and you're good to go!

With the 1st gen Lorenz leafs, I wouldn't recommend carrying ANY weight in the bed. I jacked up the rear of the truck, and forced the pucks in to engage the upside down pack even with an unladen truck. The ride was really good and supple, but the packs settled quickly. I hooked up an empty trailer, and got laughed at and made fun of...because I had a 1 ton truck with its tail on the ground!

I added the Carli LT bags to get the truck level again...however the Lorenz springs were so soft, even with the pucks engaged, that I had to run 40 psi in the bags just to keep the truck level with the normal 500 - 600 pounds I carry in the bed.

I got a load of firewood last fall, and it ended up being a little heavier than expected. When I went to leave, my trailer tongue was nearly sitting on the ground! I aired the Carli bags up to 120 psi in order to pick the rear end up enough to drive home. I went across the scales at 23K, and had a rear axle weight of 8,600 lbs...with the Carli bags supporting nearly all the weight!

I just put on the Carli full replacement leaves, and the carli leaves and 5 psi in the bags sits higher than the Lorenz leaves and 40 psi.

For the ultimate in work, play, and good looks, the Carli 2.65 kit and LT bags looks like it's going to do it all!

Would I have a problem with a 2500 - 3500 lb truck camper in the back with these packs and bags?

Epco, it doesn't sound like you'd need the long travel airbags for a setup like that, I'd get Firestone or PacBrake airbags maybe? I think'd you'd still be over your GVW though.

Enaf, so a guy buys a 1 ton, spends big bucks to put some fancy soft ride leafs and shocks on the rear (and the front too I'm guessing) and after that he can't carry any weight?..
.. so ontop of what he's already spent he needs to go out and buy some big buck arirbags to carry a load?
Sounds like Mr. Carli makes a killing off some peoople!

(don't mind me, I'm just jealous)
