When I went (this month) 40 over I used Cummins only parts and I have to say I wish I went after markit. Now the quality was PERFECT but the cost was about 100 X more. Not just the pistons, but bearings and rings were ridiculous. $3 bearings go to about $30 and that's with a good discount. (I get a repair shop discount) Don't forget you have to get the correct head gasket for 40 over. There are 2 thicknesses. It's about $350 vs less then $100 for a standard. If you need $ I have most of them. If you can get them from another source you may be able to save some money.
Good Luck,

None of the aftermarket pistons are cheaper... and can be hard to get and they tend not to be for everyday drivers too.
For example, mahle monotherms go for $3k! Stick with the cummins and Mumau is an excellent source.
