Long term Smarty Jr. opinions
#16
I had to put my stock tuning back in today and thought my truck was broken. Terrible throttle response, no power and it wouldn't smoke to save it's life. The engine idles a little quieter though

i love my jr...picked up mpgs around 1.5 towing and unloaded...power is great!! I gross up to 34k sometimes....i leave my jr. on the econo program!! The new beta tune #4 is even better!!! Basically no smoke with some power and throttle response!

The majority say that its safe...as long as you dont hammer it.
Im going out of town with the TT for a while today. Gonna order when I return. Thanks for the replies.

Even I am running a stock 48RE with my Smarty/Quad stack and have had no problems so far. But I don't kid myself thinking that there is no effect using extra power. Even if I don't have a catastrophic failure, I know the overall life expectancy of the tranny is reduced with each push on the go pedal.
But for now, it's not broke, so it doesn't need fixing.

I bought mine from xtreme diesel performance great customer service. Also free overnight delivery.
MTC good luck only leaving it on the 40hp setting, I said the same thing and only made it about 4 hours before I had to try the 70hp, have not tried the 100hp yet.

I have had my Smarty JR for several months now and up until today I had only used the level 2 - 70 HP setting. I decided today to try the level 3 - 100 HP setting and Holy Crap!!!! What a difference and I have to say that it's really hard to not put my foot to the floor every chance I get. I just hope that my tranny holds on.

I have run all three settings at least a month each with no issues at all. 1st setting is a little smoky but not bad. 3rd is really nice with alot of added power but i have a problem keeping my foot off go pedal. 2nd is my favorite setting. Ive towed alot with it and its my daily driver setting. Smarty Jr is a great product if you want to keep your transmission stock. I may invest in a tc and vavle body for towing in the 100 HP setting, but who knows? a stock transmission may be fine towing on 100 hp extra if you dont hammer it.
Over all I have been very happy with the product

Its a sweet product. Unless you are going to build a tranny no point in getting senior. Don't misunderstand me the Sr. I great and very adjustable but the jr is over $100 less and will smoke your tires and slip your tranny at WOT on #3. It shouldn't be called junior...my $.02
