Long term Smarty Jr. opinions

I know that Im prolly beating a dead horse, but I have searched and not really found the answers Im looking for.

For anyone who has had the Smarty Jr installed for a while, I just want your opinions. I have been on the fence for a long time now because everybody I talk to says that my stock auto tranny wont hold the power and will eventually start to slip. I tow just about everyday and sometimes heavy. I usually drive "normal", but sometimes I really want to get there.

Any opinions are appreciated. Thanks

I have had my Smarty Jr since they were released. I programmed my truck with the 100 h.p. setting the day I got it and haven't taken it off. I pull my 9000 lb travel trailer with it on oversized tires and sometimes race it around a bit. So far no issues with anything.

Like ptgarcia, had mine for some time and no issues. I too have 9k TT and with 35" tires, no problems. I believe you'll have problems if your doing numerous high boost launches in or out of 4WD. If your one of those guys who likes doing burn outs on a regular basis .. I can see having tranny issues, the odd race/burn out hasn't caused me any grief (65k miles so far on Smarty jr.)

Sounds good...Like I said, Im pretty much bone stock and I dont race or do burnouts, but I do tow alot. I would be buying it mainly for a little boost of power(prolly never go above the 40hp setting), but also for better mileage.

I got a little over 50k running Smarty Sr. mostly on #3 towing 7-12k. A little playing on #5 empty but nothing even remotely hard. Toasted the direct clutches and ruined the input.

IMO, even 40 hp is pushing the ability of the trans to hold the power. Especially on these units with the TV motor.

Highly reccomend you put at least a shift kit in it.

I've had mine on 70HP since they came out and so far no issues.

I use my truck almost exclusively for towing a 10,000 lb fiver around.

I've had mine on 70HP for several months and no issues. I tried 40HP, it's good but 70HP is great! Havn't tried the 100HP yet. I occasionaly tow 6000 lb Travel Trailer. Pulls great. Couldn't be happier.

Ive had mine on all three settings and all are great for their purpose. I personally like the 100 hp setting and have had it on that setting for a long time stock tranny with no issues. Mine smokes a little if I hammer it hard from a stop but I deffinately wouldn't call it excessive smoke. Pull the trigger you will like it!

On the 70Hp setting since it was released, I tow 15,000 at least twice a week and enjoy the added power the rest of the time. The only downside is the back tires wear a lot quicker.

MTC, any of the power adders can toast components, even if you're driving responsibly. Whether you pick Jr., Sr. or any of the other brands out there, you always have the risk of damage. I'm using a Sr. and towing on SW3 with no problems other than it's hard not to mash on it now and then.
