long arms worth the money?
I am going to be purchasing a 6" lift and 37" Toyo MT's. My question is, are the long arm kits worth the extra money? I will not be offroading with this truck, only street driving. I am between a couple of different lifts, but notice that the BDS and Top Gunz offer a long arm kit. Looks like the Top Gunz long arm kit can be added to any 6" lift system and it is adjustable were the BDS is not adjustable. Any comments would be appreciated.

All the lifts advertise standard arms, but only a few offer long arms kits. Got to think that the standard arm kits are fine for driving, just curious if the long arms are needed.

I have switched on jeeps and it makes a huge difference.
on or off road I like long arm set-ups better then short arm set ups...even more so when you lift the truck past 4".
short arm angles are too steep imho...long arm will help keep the arms parallel to the ground witch is what you want.my.02

I am running the BDS short arm, and it has pulled my axle back a bit. If I had it to do all over again, I'd spend the extra cash. I may add long arms in the future, but they are in line behind:

I'm currently running a 6inch superlift with the standard arms and bilsteins and the ride is great. A friend of mine runs the same kit as me and recently added a 2inch spacer up front and the ride is terrible, the truck bounces all over the place. I'm in the process of doing the same thing but getting longer arms custom made. Last time i checked the top gun long arms required the lower control arm mount on the frame to be cut, which would make it hard for you to go back down to stock if need be. In my case spending the extra $$$ in the beginning would have been the smart thing to do.

The move to true long arms is permanent. The BDS is not a true long arm kit since there are still two short arms mounted in the stock lower mounts. A true long arm kit requires the removal of your lower control arm mounts.
I had an immediate improvement in ride quality when I switched to radius arms, just about the same as long arms. They definately ride better for sure which is why I did mine.
