A little worried. Lookin for advice

Lost almost all power to my truck today. had to make a trip and the truck seemed like it wasn't running as good all day. shifted to 4th and just rolled into the throttle like always. all the sudden i saw the engine light come on and imediately after i lost all power. I almost had to pull off the road but it came back and seemed to be fine. The codes it threw were P2146 and P2149. Something to do with my cylinders being shorted.

Never had any trouble with her before. truck has always run real strong so this is kinda outa the blue. Im a little nervous about whats wrong. anyone have any idea's? Theres a good mechanic at hamilton diesel i'll go see on monday but till then im kinda in the dark.

Dont know abought the codes but mine did the same thing when I got a tank of bad fuel. I knew somthing was wrong before I even left the truck stop. I just dident think to stop and blame it on the fuel rite there. I drove half way across Nebraska and all the way to Colorado Springs before I stopped at a dealer to have the codes pulled. It turned out to be a fuel delivery problem. I was pulling an empty 26 foot enclosed car trailer and it would take me as much as 2 miles to get up to 75. The turbo wouldent spool and it just felt like I lost 90% of the power. After running a few more tanks of fuel threw it and changing the filter it ran like a top again.

bump...

thanks for the input. i sure hope its just bad gas, that crossed my mind but the thrown codes about the cylinders being shorted has me nervous its something serious.

anyone have any other ideas as to what could make a truck just shut down almost and lose all power.

Do you have gauges? What's your fuel pressure/rail pressure?

Sounds like a fuel prob.

I say this as i had a bad tank of winter blend this past winter and prob sounded identical.
