Lift pump died, please help what should I get
My 04.5 stock lift pump died yesterday, I Have already installed the back up I had, but now need to look at a new system, I have looked at the FASS, and the Raptor with a MK-2
Are the claims that fass makes true for fuel milage gains and the ability to remove air? would I have this if I went with the raptor and MK-2?
The FASS completly bypasses the stock filter and caniter, are there pros and cons to this? It looks like there are other electrical things on the stock canister I would loose.
I have been reading so much on here that I think I am more confused now, please help with any info you have, cost is not a issue here, I just want a relliable system that will last, longer that 80,000 miles.
Thanks

I would just get a raptor 150, plug it into your stock fuel filter canister, and be done with it. Very easy to do, probably a 30 or 45 min job.
If you want better filtration, I would plumb a MK2 between the stock filter and the CP3.
I posted a vid on another thread like this of a guy doing his own Raptor, let me see if I can find it.

xford - Hopefully you saw my recent thread that madhat linked. I just went through the lift pump failure/replacement routine just this week. I'm really glad I went the Raptor route!
FYI - Lary (Online Store) was able to ship the part from Idaho warehouse and it arrived in two days. The Raptor has a lifetime warranty if you send in your sales receipt with warranty registration within 30 days. Be sure to capture the serial # off the pump before you install it...else you will end up crawling under your truck yet again, like me, to write down the number on the warranty card .
I like the idea of retaining the stock filter cannister. You still have the petcock drain/water separator, plus the heater element it uses for winter operation and you can use the stock filter (7 micron) to prefilter before the 2 micron GDP MK2. Should allow the GDP MK2 to go longer between service intervals.

Either or... I saw that you had the Junior, didn't know if you had caught the bug or not. That 100 will do you fine if you plan to stay where you are.

just a word of caution when installing a pump that will put out 15+ psi and still going thru the factory filter housing. the plastic caps don't like much more than 15psi and will blow off and leave you stranded again. find a billet cap and you will be fine.

cbrahs - thanks for that tip!
Any other billet caps than this one from Geno's?

I used the GDP Walbro but I heard they don't sell them anymore. It's 17 psi and I thought the cap was good for 25 psi. Maybe I better find a billet. A replacement pump is only ~$115 and I carry one under the seat. The GDP required a return line so I did the vent mod while the tank was out. I made my own 2 mic. filter setup ahead of the cp3. I really like that Raptor but I don't regret running the return line - it will keep cooler fuel going thru the pump rather than bypassing internally. Craig

Just for clarification - On my 04.5 the Raptor install retains the OEM return line to tank. Although, the Raptor has internal bypass design. Not sure how the two play together, but it works!

I had one of Geno's caps on my 2000 and loved it. Installed a valve in the 1/4 npt hole to make purging easier. Sure wish Dodge had stayed with that canister instead of the the crappy thing that is on the newer trucks.
