Let's Talk Air - Amsoil Dry or BHAF
I've been running a BHAF on my truck for some time now primarily because I don't like oiled filters.
However, I've recently been made aware of an Amsoil dry filter that is supposed to flow better AND filter better.
Does anyone have flow and filtration stats comparing the standard Duralite BHAF filter against the new Amsoil drop-in filter? I'm contemplating taking the BHAF and putting my stock air box back in with one of the new Amsoil dry filters.

I'm trying to find a comparison of the flow rates and filtration between the two, but can't seem to locate anything on line. I want more air but I also want good filtration.

How about enough Cummins-spec airflow and filtration to support at least 650 HP and 1220 ft-lbs. of torque? CFMs are around 1360, if memory serves (just read what's printed on the side of your stocker X 2)

Interesting, but I don't want a big box like that under my hood. I just want to find out which flows and filters better, my BHAF or the Amsoil drop-in replacement for the stock air box.
I sent an email to Amsoil. Hopefully they'll be able to provide some good information.

Well, I've gathered a bit more information.
I know that the BHAF I'm using flows 680 CFM at 8" H20 restriction. I just got an email back from Amsoil saying the following:
Obviously, that doesn't tell me anything. There's no way the Amsoil EAA189 flows 2,040 CFM at 8" H20 restriction. So, I emailed him back and asked for specific flow rates. I'll report back here if they are able to provide them.

Thank you for contacting AMSOIL with your concerns.
In response to your inquiry, the AMSOIL Ea Filter test show that the filters have more than three times the air flow as a cellulose media filter.
Thank you again for the opportunity to respond to your concerns. As always, please feel free to contact us again if we can be of further assistance.
Sincerely,

My stock filter would pull the filter minder 1/2 way down with Smarty on #3 easily...
I Put in the EAA189 ... now *No* filter minder pull down on #3 or #5 WOT. I thought I had not sealed the air box correctly.. Nope.. Just excellent flo.

It seems tough to get specific info these days , not just Amsoil , I had 2-3 PMs to the guy I've been dealing with , haven't seen him on this site , he said double the stock filter with a 12" restriction , need to turn air box into swiss cheeze to take advantage .
Took notes yesterday , could not find your post , notes gone today , had part # for drop in , I got a cone style , made box out of plastic cardboard [ same color as filter , when warmer I'll use blue silly cone to glue edges ] .
I give you my guys web site . May get quicker responce than corp ???
