I have the ARE Topper, love the darn thing, no squeaks, held with four beefy clamps per side. I got mine matched color to my truck for 836.00 installed. I think it was a deal they were running on there newest line of toppers they released.

Anyways, I never owned a truck cap... I will need an open bed during the summer a few times and was wondering how hard it was to install/remove a Leer cap ? How many people do you need, mounting, etc ???

Plus, if anyone has some new pics of mega cabs or quad cabs with Leer caps, please post...

4 people would be the optimum amount of people to take one of these babies on and off. Another way to save some work and do it with 2 people if you have the space is to build a rack out of 2x4s thats about 6 inches higher than the truck bed. Then you wont have to break your back lifting that heavy cap off the ground and all the way up onto the truck. You just back up too it and could even make it wide enough to back half way under and then 2 guys can easily slide it right on. If you are going to be doing a lot of taking it on and off IMO this is the best way to do it. Plus it will have a lot less chance of being damaged than laying on the ground when not in use

Does anyone know how easy it is to install a locking rear tailgate...mine didnt come with one from the factory and I really wish I had one... any ideas?
I installed a Bully tailgate lock on my Dodge with tonneau and my last chevy with Leer 100XL. About as good a manual lock as you can put on a tail gate. They are inexpensive and look OEM.

I'm looking at the 100XQ and the cheapest I can find is $2100 installed with power locks, front removable slider and a single clothes hanger rack. Am I paying too much?

I paid $1200 for mine and it has the headliner (which my beautifuly puppy ripped out it's a good thing momma loves him hint, hint .44) Fold down front window and manual locks. I think it was about $300 more for the fully decked out one but the windown would only open like the old extended cab windows would and with two 150 lb dogs I wanted the rear windows to slide more so their 5 gallon heads would fit out especially when it's 110 degrees in the summer.

Hey bumpytruck! Sweet ride Bro. Do you have any close-ups of that thang? In particular, I wanna see the side windows where they meet the bed liner. I also have an over the rail liner (Line-X) and was super curious how that would work out. The fit and look? Did the cap dealer say anything about installing it over the liner? I honestly think this is the best looking cap out there right now. But what drew me to it was the clean mount and how well it intergrated with the lines of the cab windows. Or basically, how this cap doesnt have the submarine port hole window look. Thanks, and love those nerfs!!

Hey roofgoof! I'm near Baltimore, what is the place that quoted you those prices??

Thanks to both of you guys,
The Fruitman
