Larger injectors and CA smog test?

So it looks like it's time for a new set of injectors for my 03, I'm pretty much decided on buying from Exergy. The question I have is how much smoke am I going to get with 50 HP injectors, I can get these brand new (Genuine Bosch) with 50 or 100 HP tips from Exergy for the same price as brand new stock ones.
My truck is my DD/work truck, and I intend to upgrade the turbo eventually (after trans), I would like to not take too much of a milage hit, especially as diesel here in the bay area looks to be heading over the $5 per gallon mark any day now. My goal is to eventually reach 500hp.
Anyone out there able to give me a straight answer on this, and any other CA guys running bigger sticks and have had to deal with smog testing?.
TIA for any help.
Paul

Hard to tell. What I would say for sure is I would not go 100s if I lived in Cali.

50's you will be fine. 100's, not so much.

50's, the right tuning and turbo will get you 500.

Glad to hear you confirm my thoughts, It is almost too good to pass up the 50's when they cost the same as stock I will be adding the Fleece Holset Cheeetah stock lookalike turbo in the future. Here in the bay area I want it to be as stock looking as it can.

Now I'm just curious as to how you get your twins through smog, it must surely suck if you have to remove them and put a stocker back on.
Thanks.

You just have to find a shop that hates the fact that diesels have to be smogged....or one that doesn't have a clue what they're looking for....

In all honesty, the bottom turbo is hard to see...as long as you don't have one that's polished...and you don't follow where the tubing goes to..LOL

I've had the exp. of removing the top turbo 4 times due to poor manufacturing (china cheap castings suck-dps) on the wg valves, which I ended up fabbing up a uni-valve. So, swapping out for smoggin' purposes isn't that big of deal...

I'm running 90's (ddp's) and unless I really flog it when the motor is still cold, the smoke clears up within 2 secs....when the turbo lites up.

I got F1 40hp and a airdogg 2 and I passed smogg without a hitch. My mpg actually went up by 1mpg with the new injectors granted I keep my foot light.
