Well, I've been shopping for some propane systems for a while and have been pretty much sold on the MSD Digital unit. With my fueling, I'm a little smokey when the truck is not warmed up which is alot of the time in winter. With my thermastat drilled the truck warms up a little slower but doesn't get as hot either and my freeze plugs should stay in....soooo.....I thought a little propane would just about solve all my problems. I found a NIB unit for sale on Ebay and and for $415 including shipping it will be on its way next week. I'm planning on running a couple of 33# aluminum fork lift tanks for most of the time as I have 6 of them laying around for the forklifts. I have a couple of 100# tanks but that may be overkill.
My rate for propane used to be about $1.50 a gallon so it is way cheaper than diesel and hopefully will cover its costs.
My 450hp detuned truck is gonna be a 500hp detuned truck....I'm gonna move my water inlets to the turbo side of the intercooler so that I don't get any snow ***** going into the intake manifold. I was thinking of inleting the propane into the intercooler pipe on the intake side so it had lots of time to mix with the air before the manifold...what do ya think. ks

I've been running a Bully Dog high output propane system for 7 yrs or so and just love it. I have it plumbed in about 4 in before compressor inlet using a 5/8" line. I use 2 -5 gallon horizontal tanks that are plumbed together and used at the same time. The reason for this is to alleviate freezing the lines due to the volume of gas being used versus volume of just one tank. My mileage increased bout 4-5 mpg while using the propane, which isn't all the time because I have it set to open at 9 psi of boost. I get about 1300 miles on 10 gallons of propane. (mixed driving, towing etc.)-----anyway good luck, I sure have enjoyed mine and plan to add a system to my 05 soon--Matt

Matt, Yep that's what I plan on doing. I was thinking of plumbing a coolant line back to each tank and insulating the coolant and propane lines together to keep the lines warm. The propane tanks hold about 7.5 gallons I think....30 litres. If I got 4 mpg, less smoke, and 2000 miles on a fill up of propane....I'd be very happy. 9psi would be good for me but this thing runs off boost and rpm to conserve propane so who knows.

Justin.....Ok I'll leave the water where it is and then I can just turn the water pump on with a switch to put out the fire burning from the explosion. Just trying to make this truck a more friendly daily driver. I frequent a coffee shop that is full of greenies...fishoil (not whale oil ) BioDiesel is now available in any increments up to 50/50 for 10/90...It is blended at the pump with dino diesel.... I figure with water, BioDiesel and Propane burning in the truck....I won't have to wait as long in line for a big mug of organic fairtrade coffee....small price to pay.

With as much fuel as you are running I would be very careful with LPG.
LPG is probably the most dangerous adder you can do to your truck. It is very qwirky and depending on outside temps and how you are driving you can get vapor or liquid to your motor.
What most people do not understand is that LPG is just another fuel. You would gain the same results by adding a 7th injector to the intake and spraying raw fuel down the intake. The only difference is that LPG has a lower flash point so when it enters the cylinders it actually burns before the diesel fuel does. Now you have effectively advanced timing to an unknown amount.
I am not saying it does not work but, be VERY careful. I have seen an awful lot of motors destroyed running the LPG.

Propane on a stock type truck is WAY different than on a modified truck. Also you sound like you use it in reasonable amounts which usually does not happen.
1.) The reason it makes more power is because it is burning more fuel. ANy sort of fuel will do this. LPG, Meth, or Diesel.
2.) The propane starts the burn earlier in the cylinder so it advances the timing and ignites the diesel fuel sooner.
3.) This is the same thing as #1. More fuel = More Exhaust = More boost.
4.) Fuel mileage is probably helped due to the advanced timing if you drive it nicely. Also remember to calculate you LPG in the equation for mileage as it is also a fuel that you are burning.

LPG is only for Winter months mainly when the smarty is off, I figure that Propane will advance by about 6 degrees. In winter I plan to run the truck at 40psi boost limit. From what I've heard the MSD is very frugal compared to the jetting and Hobbs switch propane injection. The LPG fueling map is delivering fuel for a stock truck so I hope it will be low enough just to clean up a little smoke, and give me some mileage. If it doesn't work it'll be in the classifieds in a month or two as a barely used MSD propane injection. I'm thinking of putting the tanks in passenger seat with the bunn heaters on to keep the propane as vapor only.
For summer, This truck will be either back to "stock" or a sledpulling monster, or a tow vehicle for the other truck(s). ks

Yep, "stock" is a very relative thing. I'd be just as happy with a Stock truck with maybe a Helix 2 Cam and springs, A set of Flux 1's, a 62/12 turbo, TST, a Bhaf, and a 5" exhaust.....and a Subaru WRX STI with a few mods....instead I have something that costs about the same or less and will kick their tail.
When your big and fugly like my truck everyone thinks your slow and stupid it seems. My truck looks like a pig from the back and it smells like a mack truck. I try to drive peacefully home and today a doof in a brand new dmax regular cab, inside lanes me at the lights. The light changes and I roll hard with him to about 20mph and then I step on it a bit to clear him and then hammer it....the greengoat kicks to the side a bit then were doing 70 in about 2 seconds and he is back in the grey fog about 20 lengths. Drop it into 3rd coast the next set of lights and meet the boys in red and blue at the speed trap....buddy is still trying to catch up and gets pulled over. All in all my days work was done. I love my sic truck. ks

I love my LPG! I've toned it down to prevent detonation while towing but it still makes a big difference. And it sucks the trailer up hills like nothing else! The MSD kit is great, alot of safety features. I would have bought one if I didn't get my Bully Dog system real cheap on Ebay. I bought my tank from Amerigas for ALOT less that a diesel shop would charge, I have a 29 gallon Manchester tank in my toolbox, lasts forever!
