Yeah, first long trip with it straight piped will be your last trust me, I know, as my PSD was straight piped, and around town, was GREAT. But made a trip to Arkansas and back, thought I was going to go nuts

I had my truck straightpiped for a while until I was pulled over by the same highway patrol cop twice within three months for my loud exhaust. It's pretty bad when the cop remembers your name and says "Didn't I tell you to put a muffler on that thing?" It does sound good though.

I'm running straight pipe with twin 5" stacks and it's not bad at all cruising the freeway. Did a 350 mile trip the other day and it was fine.

I now know also as well.
I straight-piped mine December 27th and hate it.
Wasn't too bad on the trip back, as all roads were of a secondary nature and barely got over 65 mph. First trip on the interstate (about 30 miles or so) and I was ready for an extended stay at Charter Ridge.
I had reservations about doing it, but at least I now know for sure that straight*piped is not for me.
I asked the muffler shop to remove my Flowmaster #53553 in such a way I could re-use it; I replaced the muffler with two "tweaked" 45* 4" elbows and a small section of straight 4".
If it's too cobbled up, I guess I'll hang some kind of Magnaflow system on it.
