I ordered the whole 4" system and will be putting it on Sunday afternoon. At 180K miles, I figured it's about time.

crobtex,
I might have to join ya for the dyno day on the 1st! That happens to be at the only diesel truck shop I know of. I spend a lot of time in East Tx, specifically Lake Cypress Springs. So I will try and make it that day, always wanted to get my truck dyno'd!

Hope you can make it! I don't dyno very often but I've made a few changes to my truck and need to get a new baseline.

Thumbs up

Well I put the muffler on in about an hour. I did have to remove about 4" off of the tail pipe side. On start up there is a noticable rumble but not overly loud. It does sound good rolling through the gears but is not an obnoxious sound. I don't have any more in cab resonance than I had before, if anything there is a little less just cruising. When you stomp on it it is just a little louder than stock. As for crawling into the neighborhood late at night....don't worry because it is not that loud unless you stomp on it. After the install I went down and filled her up so I could get a read on the fuel economy savings. Well I have 200 miles on her around town and one 90 mile run and I am seeing 17.8mpg on the over head and I have been seeing around 14mpg around town with the old system.....There is a long run in there though. It will take a week or so of nomal everyday driving toget an honest evaluation of the fuel savings. So far it is a must have mod................

Id like to state that if you have a 4dr short bed, you will be cutting the ext. pipe down to 34"!

MK96116 installed

I just got my muffler installed last night. I love the way that it sounds. Truck seems more responsive and the exhaust note is excellent. I just hope that I see some MPG gains.
I also had to cut 5in off the tail pipe to make it fit into the muffler and its hanger. Once the 5in was removed it was a perfect fit.
The MBRP muffler is an excellent product!

Do you still have your cat in place? with the extra 5" cut off, Did it offset the location of the tip of your exhaust?

I still have the cat and the exhaust tip is in the same location with 4" removed from the tail pipe side of the muffler.
