just installed raptor pump, have a few ???'s
well i just installed my raptor 150 pump today and it went great. my truck had the lift pump moved to the tank so i just modded that canister. i took off the corigated clear line off the canister and put a piece of hose on the feed and ran it down into the fuel bowl canister, similar to the suction tube but without the 1/4 tank issues my only questions were, is the RP 150 pump suppose to be loud enough to hear in the cab with the windows up and the radio off? that thing seams like its screaming.
so i went down the highway and put the TST on 9x9 with rail preesure on 4 and bullydog on 1, it still runs the CP3 driy i think. i watched the rail pressure guage drop down to around 12 and then spike back up to 22-25. is that just my stock CP3 not being able to push the fuel or is it something else. because i thought the Raptor would make that better. even with TST on 6x6 and BD on 1 it still does it but not as bad as 9x9. Could it be my CP3??
thanks,
matt

be sure you connected the ( in/out ), to the right hoses.
Other than that... mine is very loud IMO too. I changed from a Walbro though so, it's expected to be louder than it.
I talked to Charlie about it and he actually got on the ground to listen to it and said it was normal. It's quite the large pump with a impeller ( I believe it's called ) the size of a half dollar. It could chew up some nice size what ever !
Another thing ... be sure you have no tight bends or kinks in the fuel lines. It causes cavitation which can cause it to be very loud and your truck may not run real well.

yea the only thing that sucks about the pump is theres no way to not realy have a bend in it because of how the lines need to be crossed because the inlet is were the outlet should be. i have it set at 25 PSI and it drops down to 20PSI at WOT so its not like its loosing fuel pressure.
Ill post a pic of how i set it up inder the truck

yeah, I meant more like kinks in the lines. I guess to answer your question... the Raptor is a loud pump. Not as bad as a FASS but, not as quite as a Walbro.
You could try putting some rubber backing between the pump and frame to see if that helps.

yea i never thought of that. do you think that something like the arson kit wout help to improve that? or do i have to go right for the II modded Cp3?

I guess it depends on your HP goal...I see you want or plan a stage II cp3 sometime in the future so I would say hold off on the DIY kits and put the cash towards getting the full blown stage II cp3.....I dont like buying stuff twice so I say go big and grow into it!!!!...lol

I installed my Raptor 150 a couple of weeks ago and when I first turned the key on I thought that I did something wrong because I couldn't even hear the pump run. (Not kidding) I am super happy with how quiet mine is, I thought that it would be louder that it is by far. But here is how I mounted mine, I used four 5/16 studded rubber mounts that I got from McMaster-Carr. And mounted them to a billet aluminmum bracket that I machined out, so it is totally rubber mounted and isolated from the frame.
Once I figure out how to get a picture of it I post it.
Thanks,
Dustin
