Just bought some Scheid Lightning 50's
Well I just ordered up a set of Scheid's Lightning 50's to replace my stock units. I have three that are on their way out, and with 160,000 miles on the stockers, I figured I might as well replace all of them. Oddly enough they are cheaper than any stock units I could find. I got them for $346 a piece for brand new injectors.
A couple of questions:
Do I need to upgrade anything (lift pump, turbo etc.) to handle these? Everything else on my truck is stock and the turbo is brand new so I don't want to replace it.
How about towing? I have a 30' TT that goes about 7000lbs. I'm hoping my EGT's and stock tranny will handle everything ok!

Supporting fuel mods should not be necessary for that level injector. They will change your EGTs so you need either gauges or a programmer that reads EGTs. The latter will be beneficial for your needs as well because you can adjust the way the engine runs when you tow to counteract what the injectors do, or for any other situation.
Also be prepared to have to disassemble your stock injectors and reuse most of their parts. For $350 I think you probably got a set of upgrade tips and not the complete injector.

No they are the complete injector! Look on their site. It does seem to good to be true, but that's the deal. I don"t have gauges yet due to only having the truck a month. They are planned, the injectors were not. I'll just drive it easy until the gauges get put in.

Is your new turbo a stock unit? If so you at least need a boost fooler to help control EGTs, but I would look into a Smarty Jr to help control the temps the 50's will make with stock timing.

Yes it is a stock turbo. Why the boost fooler? I can't imagine the EGT's are going to get that crazy. The engine is bored .40 over as well with the rebuild, does that pose any problems?

These trucks run in the 1450*+ range stock, which is fine, but the added power of 50hp sticks and stock timing will be hot. The extra air from a boost fooler will help keep the EGT's as cool as stock timing will allow.
A boost fooler will disable your wastegate allowing 35ish psi (based on stock fuel/timing/50hp sticks) and thats good.
