Which JL audio 10'' sub? And what are peoples feelings of the replacement Kicker Kit

I have the base head unit with life time sirius and they told me I could swap it once since my unit is 'broken'.

Think I'll focus on the speakers and amps first though. Think a good enough home made box on either side of the quad cab floor cut out would work? What amp is good? Looking at the JL audio 10' W6v2 subwoofer just from surfing craigslist.

Are people happy with the kicker stuff you can get from the dealer that has the kicker insignia you can pop in where the infinity insignia would go in the door.

Don't know much about head units, just know mine is cheap. Nav would be nice too...

Any opinions?

I'm running the JBL 12"-w6'....... they produce an amazing low end. Depends on what type of bass note you are looking for, I had the Kickers, they play more of an SBL base than a quality low frequency. I also have the Alpine Wr-900, very please with the simplisety of the deck. Alslo running the JBL 1000 amp.

I'm looking at the 10w6 I believe. I'll keep researching and update this when I get something together.

I have a Pioneer AVIC-Z110BT, and it is the most unbelievable head unit:

http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PU...ms/AVIC-Z110BT

I've had Clarion, Kenwood and another Pioneer AVIC unit...and the Z110 blows them all away. The navigation is awesome. The sound quality is fantastic. It fires up fast. Super responsive. Works amazing with iPod. I got the back-up cam with it too for hooking up my trailer and safety. It just can't be beat.

For subs I have two 10W6v2's in a stealbox for my megacab.

They sound really great, but I'm going to see if the car audio shop can fit in a pair of 10 or 12w7's in a custom box. I feel like they're missing a bit of the lower end of the sub range - the stuff you feel rather than hear. The audio shop told me JL is one of the best subs (and you can read about them in the reviews), but the nature of my steathbox (firing into my back seats) causes some losses. So that's why I am going to go w7's and custom box.

As for the cream of the crop speakers:

I have the bass drivers in my doors and the mids & tweets in my dash.

Audiophile sound. Very very nice.

I have the JL 10" w6 in a custom box. It fits between the front seats and is downward firing. I got it from a guy off ebay but it looks like this. http://www.supercrewsound.com/commer...d=147&catId=53 It has the perfect volume for the 10 W6. I dynamatted the trans hump and other large key areas of the floor. I have a matching JL audio 500 watt slash amp powering it, and its more than I need. ( My jeep cherokee had 2 JL 15" w0 with 300 watts to each and that was enough to create enough pressure to hurt your hears and make your nose vibrate when you beathed. It hit 140+db. So I know whats excessive and therefore can state the above of it being more than i need.)

I had originally thought about the 8" JL w7 which has extreme excursion abilities so it will really hit low but that same excursion can have trouble with faster bass.
If you want to feel your bass, i had these in my jeep as well. http://www.amazon.com/Aura-Sound-T2B.../dp/B0002ZPTBI
Attach them to the bottom of the seat mesh with some zip ties, put a switch on the signal wire for the amp powering them, and surprise your lady friends! It's hilarious to watch em jump out of the seat.
My head unit is a pioneer and I highly recommend them. This is what im running along with the separate complimentary navigation. http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PU...P7500DVD?tab=B.

I still need to dynamat the doors and get some speakers but am pleased with everything so far.
Hope this helps you and enjoy whatever you decide on.
