it's broken it's really broken
I had a piece break of the intake top plate. one of the ears that hold the intake horn down broke off on sunday and was sucked into #1 pulled head today found 3 small pieces of metal beat into the crown of the piston. but the cylinder wall is perfect and the head will be off to a machine shop soon. and with the help of Lmills and Tim Barber I will have it back on the road soon of course with a new helix cam and springs I hope to post pics of the block and head tomorrow

Ouch that hurts, but at least you are in a neck of the woods with some great help, and when I t comes back sounds like it will be a whole new beast to play with.

That really sucks to hear that... I am glad to hear the block is unharmed.
On another thought though, there goes the whole theory of metal intake vs CFM+.

What a weird thing to happen. Sorry about that buddy. It sounds like it will go back better than new, though.
I always tell myself that if for some reason, my head HAS to come off. I will somehow find the dough to put some neat stuff in while I am in there. Things like a cam, and/or springs, injectors, headwork, now I might consider the Banks intake that replaces the cast, factory intake, etc.
When I was at the Diesel drags in Bakersfield, Banks had their truck there. They had parts on display, including the new intake. It looks cool, the guys said it is available now for $700. It is probably another $700 to have a machine shop do all that massive work, though.
Good luck w/everything!
