Installing springs & head bolts?

Installing springs & head bolts?
If I am installing injectors how much more work is it to install springs and head bolts. With my mods would I even need them. I'm guessing I'll be running about 550hp.

with all your mods, i would say that head studs and valve springs are a must. it's gonna be a good amout of work but it's better to do everything at the same time, instead of tearing it apart 3 different times

If you use the Source tool for the springs you have to pull the injectors anyway.... It would be a great time to install the studs as well. Are they needed?.....how much more do you plan on doing?

I don't plan on doing anything else to the truck after these mods are done. If I do the springs I will probably have to have someone else do them. This may be above my mechanical level. External stuff is a snap but I don't feel real comfortable with internal motor stuff. I will be doing the injectors though. I just hate paying someone to do something I can do myself. That is why I did most of the mods myself. Tranny and internal engine stuff I don't mess with.

But how many ppl do you know that would be satisfied at a certain hp level? On this forum? After reading all this hype up on hp #s and boost #s? I thought 500hp would be my limit and I'm happy for now, but I already see a heavier duty clutch in my future, and what the heck, might as well put it to use! I would do it for safeguard, you never know when it will be of benefit to you. That's why I said if you can afford it, do it.

I agree with everyone so far. Springs are wicked easy once you have the injectors out. You may not need them now but you might decide to up the hp in the future and you will be happy that you have taken the safety precautions ahead of time. As for head studs, these are slightly more difficult but still pretty easy if you take your time. I did head studs and valve springs all while I was waiting for Don to send me my injectors. I got all of the information I needed to do these things from the helpful people on DTR.

also, if you decide to do the valve springs, check with your local dealership to see if you can borrow their compressor tool. My dealership just took a copy of my I.D. and let me take the tool for the weekend.
