Installing Gauges In Autometer Pillar Pod

I've got an Autometer 3-gauge Pillar pod that accepts 2 1/16" gauges. I bought 2 1/16" gauges. I thought they would simply push right into the holes of the pillar pod but they don't. Do I have to disassebmle the gauge or something?

mmm... check for burs or anything on the pod... Some of the guages to go in pretty darn tight... Make sure you take the clamp off the back of the guage.. some guages come with it already on... But I'm hoping thats not your issue!!

They're spa gauges. And I've checked the dimensions in the manual and they're correct. So I guess it is supposed to be a tight fit. I was thinking one might have had to remove the bezel ring or something, slip the gauge in from the back, then put back on the bezel as a way of "clamping" to the gauge pod. But I can see the bezel on the gauges does not remove. If need, I suppose I could use a bit of sandpaper and slowly open up the holes a bit...but maybe I'm just being a wuss and need to apply a bit of pressure...

They are supposed to be tight...

Give them a twist from side to side...

They should fit right in...

don't be a wuss! LOL... they do fit tight. the stickers that are on the sides of the gauges will hang up so kill them before installing.

Yep, every pod I have installed required a little sanding of the pod to get the gauge in. A little at a time...keep the gauge tight in the pod.

I dunno about everyone else, but mine were tight enough to not even need the bracket on the back

When I installed my gauges 1 fit real tight 2 slipped right in, didn't install the retainer clips in the back (not much room) and no porblems. One gauge I can barely turn by hand and have had no troubles with movement. Don't use the green light sleeve things they look like a washed out green, go to NAPA and get the green painted replacement bulbs. They give off a green closer to the dash lights.

Mine was so tight I didn't need the bracket either. In fact I had to remove the sticker on body of the gauge to get it in the pillar pod.
