I think that you might be on the right track concerning RF overload to the ECM..If you have that coax Anywhere near a bundle of wires to engine/computer you are inviting problems..I learned the hardway in a 95 Lincoln Town Car..I was running 600 watts on 40meters through a bumper mounted Homebrew Bugcatcher on a 12 inch form with a capacity hat and 60 inch wip while traveling..As I was approaching the redlight at the town square in Bellville, Tx I was transmitting and thr RF overload saturated my ABS and when I was applying brakes the ABS started stabb braking to the syllabic rate of my voice..

First, Isolate and run power direct from battery, Second try to distance coax from critical wiring, Third Ground that Antenna..I Have a headache rack and at top between cab and rack I ran 2 inch ground braid from bare metal on rack to behind rear brake cab light mount bare metal, then treated all for corrision prevention..And the Last and most important, Try to Bond all large metal surfaces, hood, doors , radiator support and bed with ground braid..This will eliminate 90 percent of your RF woes and increase the ground plane Performance of your antenna..

Hope this helps

I am outta here
