Installing the "bolt-on" MBRP muffler
So I was going to buy just the replacement muffler that is supposed to be a bolt on, (http://www.dieselperformanceparts.co...fm/item_id/577) but my question is how easy is the old exhaust going to come out?
its got 30k ok it, and does not live in the rust belt.
Just wonding if it may be cheaper to buy a full system then trying to pry that one out.
Also, I saw DPP sold 2 cat test pipes, one was from AFE and about 20$ cheaper then the other, what would the difference be?

If the aftermarket muffler is longer than the stock one cut the pipes outside the muffler clamps leaving enough overlap to fit the muffler in and allow clamping muffler to pipes. The other option if the muffler is shorter is get a section of exhaust pipe than you can use to extend either the exhaust pipe or tail pipe to close the gap due to the shorter muffler. You may have to use a muffler band style clamp if the extention pipe OD and muffler OD are the same.
Another possibly is to get a Donaldson or Nelson muffler that is I believe 51 inches long and just cut out the stock muffler and pipe so the new muffler will fit in. I understand that both of these mufflers have great flow characteristics and are quiet. If you want loud you could just straight pipe it. So many decisions, so little money. Good Luck!!!

Ahh ok, so I don't have to save the factoy flares, I can just it out.
Thats makes it easier.
I can't deal with the stright pipe to loud for me, but I hope the MBRP will not have a large amount of drone.

You'ld have to cut it off to put a full system on so you may as well get just the muffler. I really like my MBRP muffler. I don't really have much drone to speak of but I haven't towed with it yet...

I have the MBRP on my 3500. Sound is great. The only time it gets unbearably loud is when I have my foot in the pedal. When cruising 65 to 85 it is actually quiet. I drive it from Vegas to CA every few weeks.

I have the MBRP replacement muffler on my Megacab. You can't even hear it until about 1900 rpm (70 mph). At about 2500 rpm it gets a little loud. All this is while pulling our 8000+ lb travel trailer.
