installed Lorenz kit, question

So far I'm impressed, the quality of the kit is top notch and Sean is a good guy, called me to thank me for my purchase. I went with the 5100 leveling kit and did the rear shocks too. Got it installed last night, now my steering wheel is turned to the left about 1/4 turn, and there is about 1/8 turn of free play in the steering. Would an alignment take care of this? Thanks...

Um...yes it must be aligned...your caster is off...and the drag arm needs to be lengthened to center the wheel.

make sure to tell the alignment shop about the wheel, im sure you will. sometime they seem to miss simple things like that.

congrats

OK, got it aligned, still wanders a bit. I'll enter a turn, turn the wheel to compensate, and it keeps going straight. Is this normal?

I dont think so.

Wondering if something is loose? I know you have checked, but doing it again may be what you need to do.

Did the alignment shop drive it, if so they should of niticed there was a problem. You may just take it back to them and see what they think.

Man do I feel stupid

I took the track bar bolt out to free up the axle to fit the springs in. The bolt stripped when I tried to reinstall it, so I grabbed a 1/2" bolt off the shelf here at our shop. Bad idea! The OEM bolt has a raised shoulder for the track bar, the replacement bolt did not. I had someone shake the steering wheel while I looked at the axle, it had all kinds of play in it.

Good news is local dealer had the bolt and nut in stock and installed it for free, cost me $9 for parts. Alignment is perfect now. Sorry for wasting your time

now that its all cleared up

Its easy to miss things. I have had the front on mine apart many times and seem to know what in all is there now.

When I put the rear springs in, well, I put one of them in backwards. Took me more time tto pull it out than the entire time spent on the other side. It happens.

hows the ride?

Much nicer than before, no more bottoming out, feels more stable with the wider track from the new tires and wheels. I'll get better pics when I get it washed, it's covered with mud and transmission fluid for hopefully the last time.

Sean sent me the 6% coils, even with the 300LB bumper I think they're perfect, the 23% coils might have been too stiff.

So this kit is an option other than a 2" coil spacer leveling kit? How much did it set you back if you dont mind? What are the different coil rates. I want some lift to get 35's under it, but it will also have a plow on it during the winter so some stiffer springs would be ok by me.

Looks like a good setup, better than the spacers especially when putting the snow plow on. How much worse will the ride be if I put on the 23% springs? How much different were the 6% that you put on? Can I get anyh shock to work with these?

I had the original 2" springs on with the buckstop bumper

then went to the 3" IR coils, buckstop bumper and Winch

The ride has always been great. I do have the 2.5 Sway Away shocks, not bilstiens.
