Installed FASS and Vent Kit Last Night, Obsevations and Questions

First off, will the push and lock connectors hold? Seems there could be better ways. How were you able to get them to seat all the way, I have one that I have pushed and pushed and it aint going, yes I used some oil on it.

Second, anyone notice ALL the little spaces rust is going to setup in? This is the first time I have spent any major amount of time under the truck and it appears there are quite a few spaces (nooks and crannies) that hold dirt and moisture. Guess I will be sliding under the truck a few times a year to clean it out.

Third, what a pain to mount that pump (whole system). That was the longest part of the whole install. I am going to look at having a braket made that will allow the system to be mounted horizontal rather than vertical, should this hurt anything?

I ran 50 miles past empty and there was still 9 gallons of fuel in the tank, no wonder I have only been able to squeeze 28 gallons in the truck.

I haven't driven the truck yet, but will do a test run in the AM to the fuel station to see what I can get in it.

Yes the push locks will hold, if they are on correctly you can't pull them apart.

I think think the water seperator has to be in th vertical position

Yeah, I agree the push locks will not come off.
You couldnt pull one off if you tried (even if they are not on all the way).

...and do not put clamps on push lock hose. I have mentioned this to a few folks...they want some sense of security and go ahead and put the gear clamps on anyway. Does not take much for that to cause a leak and cut the hose.

I hear ya Scotty, but there is no way I'm putting a fuel system togeather without hose clamps. I just don't over tighten them, I use two.

Well, after driving the truck it is noticably quieter and smoother. I filled up and was able to get a total of 39 gallons in the tank. That should put me in excess of 650 miles in range.

i am thinking there is a better way to mount it too. when the weather breaks and i drop the tank to due the fuel tank vent mod- i will look to see if there is a way to fab a bracket that can mount to the frame to hold the fass, instead of mounting it to the spring perch.

After having a few mounts mounted down low like near under the floor on the frame by the drivers seat and back by the rear axle, I have decided to put a prefilter and the pump in a nice, shiney aluminum checker plate box in the bed ahead of the drivers side wheel well.
Sure its a bit of a pull upwards but its not a lot and then gravity back down will assist with the flow to the factory filter housing with this set up.

After many different pumps and seeing what commonly fails, I will always prefilter before any pump from now on.
