Installed Donaldson today. Parts:
Donaldson M085171 $64.05
2 Clamps (band type) 733-3224 from Napa $8.45 ea. ($16.90 total).
1 Muffler Clamp HPC350 from Napa $2.91.
1 Reducer 41991 $13.49 from Napa.
Total with Taxes $99.60
Cut pipe just in front of front muffler clamp (kept exhaust pipe hanger that is welded to pipe just in front of muffler inlet pipe. Butted new Reducer up to it and used the muffler clamp. Used band clamp to clamp reducer to new muffler. Note Muffler1 picture shows - heated and bent old muffler hanger out of the way; it was too close and might make contact.
Cut off pipe about 2" downstream of old muffler outlet pipe, about 1" after it expands to 4". Slipped stock exhaust pipe into rear of muffler (tight fit).
Sounds great. No drone. Glad I did not go with longer Donaldson.
Trying to post pictures, don't know if it will work.
Have sound files before and after but no where to post them.

Guy's, I too had my Donaldson 41" installed yesterday. The day before it was installed, I personally called and talked with a rep from Donaldson and was told "the arrow and inlet markings go to the inlet not the direction of flow". He also stated " I don't understand how anyone could get that mixed up it, we marked it quite well so it was not to be questioned on which way was which. Needless to say, we do get calls from customers saying the muffler shop installed it backwards, what do I do?". He also stated, "It won't hurt anything, just sound a bit different".
On my install, I went ahead and had it welded all up, as I dont like the possibility of leaks. Reused all the factory mounts and fabricated new hangers for them. The shop guy told me the key is to get that pipe out past the bed and to make sure all the factory mounts are used and I should have a system that I will be completely happy with it. He also mentioned that he has seen 5-10 truck come in to be diagnosed for vibs and drone after the owners installed new full systems. I've had the time to drive 150 mile or so on it now and I can report: No drone at any rpm and the vibrations that I was getting with the stock system are all but gone. I also installed a DT polished S/S rolled lip tip that was also welded on. As for EGT's, I have observed about 75-100* temp drop. I will find out how much it decreased when I get to tow my 5-er here for the 4th of July. When I get the time and the weather clears up here in my parts I will try and get pictures for my profile.

Did you get everything from the Peterbilt dealer? I'm thinking about doing this because I want to actually hear some exhaust, but don't really want to spend the coin right now...
