Installed Airdog II 165 on '04.5 today....

riddle me this....I spent the better part of today putting the ADII on my truck - lets just say they need to revamp their instructions a bit.
When all was done and tested, I took the truck out for a drive to get up to temp; when I got back my garage I jumped out and started looking for drips, didnt see any, even used the crawler. Shut the truck down and finished cleaning all the tools up.....when I looked back at my truck I saw a puddle forming under the engine, after further inspection I found that the fuel drip was coming from the new fittings required by the ADII to connect to the CP3. I pulled out the wrenches and cranked the fittings even tighter (they did move), thought it was fixed. Well, I started the truck up, put a few trailers away - was checking for the drip the whole time; I noticed that the drip is minimal while the truck is running but when its off the drip is pretty constant and many.
Basically the puddle while running while sitting in the same place for 1 min would be about the size of a half dollar; while the truck is off the puddle is easily 4 times that size.
My question is this...what did I do incorrectly? Can you over tighten the fittings to the CP3? Its an o-ring style fitting with a flare fitting that threads to it. Could it be leaking somewhere else from the CP3; is the addtl fuel/pressure from the AD making something else fail?

Something doesn't sound right with that o-ring to a flare fitting to me.. Flare fittings do have a tendency to crack at the flare if over tightened. Then again I'm referencing plumbing applications not fuel.

I didn't put anything on the threads because I figured the o ring would seal it. I will take it off and put some t tape on.

I drove the truck most of the day today, between making some visits to family and a soccer game...it was running for a couple hrs - got home, shut it down, grabbed a flashlight and slid under the engine to look for drips - - there werent any and I hadnt done anything to it....what stopped the leak?

What did you do with the stock fuel line? You may have seen the remaining fuel in the stock line draining out. If you had a leak in the new fittings it would be greater when running (under pressure), not less, as you describe.

for those of you that have mounted these pumps to the frame rail...what sort of protection have you put down there for winter months? I was thinking about cutting up a mud flap and mounting it to the front side to protect from grime this winter.

I had the same problem. I just put another o-ringed washer on it. Problem fixed. What Airdog gives you is not thick enough to make a proper seal. You will see fluid specs on your tailgate and smell diesel if you still have the problem. Ask me how I know.
