injector health-same as stock w/same rail pressure?

I have been reading on some trucks like mine having injectors go bad after modding. There was a thread on here somewhere where a user (thanx for sharing the info Mr.User) gave rail pressures for the superchips and stock, they were practically the same. So, with a Superchips, or other programmers that don't raise rail pressure, are the chances of injector failure greater compered to stock?
Thanx.

I believe with duration/timing boxes or programmers the chances of having injector failures would be the same as stock. Ruling out carbon fouling the injector tips.

Mikey, Iwas thinking extra pressure was harder on the injectors.
Thanx.

Yes, running much higher rail pressure is hard on the injectors and the relief valve. But a little more pressure than stock is ok.

its my understanding that its all in how the pressure comes on.

if the pressure comes on hard and very fast and ramps up around 27k fast, its very tough on injectors and the relief valve.

However, if the pressure is gradual and comes on very smooth, extra pressure is not harming.

The Dr. Performance pressure box is supposed to be progressional pressure like this.

The injectors is my concern, forget about the relief valve, whats a rail cap cost? Bout 40 bucks?

I choose to leave my pressure off until I need it. Unless you have big single I see no need for pressure for daily driving.

its not hard at all to make your own rail cap.....

but i'm still not sold on that idea. seems to me the rail would need a way to release psi if something went wrong.

Progressional my butt...sales pitch. Read more about Dr. P products over the years....not the best rap IMHO.

The highest spike an injector sees is never from the ramp up of rail pressure...it is when it shuts every time your foot lets off the go pedal.
If you watch a real time rail gauge...one that does not smooth out the "spikes" you will see the largest pressure ever then.

Stay under 27 ksi and quit worring how quick it gets there...

Sustained cruise under high rail pressre is not great...more wear and tear on the tip. Dr. P pressure box's are know for some of the highest "cruise" rail pressure out there.

up until recently, they did have a bad rep. They have a new program in the box and its supposed to be great. still waiting to get my hands on one.

Still waiting on my rail pressure gauge......

but in the mean time i love my XZT.

I know you can make your own rail cap but I would save myself the hassle and just buy one, the time it would take me to figure out exactly what I need is worth more than 40 bucks to me.

I agree with you about the pressure needing somewhere to go. I dont have a cap but if my valve blows I will likely put one on. I need to get one to keep in my toolbox incase my valve did let go on the road.

ditto about the toolbox idea. i'm gonna start carrying a regular bolt to fit in place of the banjo bolt just in case it messes up.
