You will see a much noticeable difference. A 66 will be laggy, much more than the 62, but the top end will be much more powerful. You may find it hard to build boost to pass or accelerate quickly, but other than that it should be acceptable, many ppl use this turbo for daily driving and playing around.

It should level out quicker on the top end, but because of the lag, it will probably be a little hotter cruising and getting up to speed.

With the right injectors, you can make a lot of that lag go away...

i usually see 700+ just driving at 75mph. i can hit over 1000+ just getting on the on ramp with mine. lag isnt too bad, but dont expect to be able to pass someone last minute. unless your doing 85 mph already.

I just did 70k miles on sps66. Personally I think you are crazy to ditch a 62 in favor of a 66. Save a few more bucks and put your 62 into a twins setup and have the best of both worlds. Yes injectors and or Smarty will help with spool-up on the 66, in fact I would say they are both mandadory but it will smoke more. Take what I say with a grain of salt because I think the downside of the 66 isn't at all worth the little bit of upside, but some guys are real happy with the 66's.

^^^ X2 on that! I went from a stocker to a SPS66 with all the supporting mods and for daily driving it was horrible. I went back to a HTB2 62/64/12 and couldn't have been happier, of course that turbo was screaming for help with all the fuel thrown at it so I stepped up to twins and wish I would have done that first!

Good luck with whatever you decide.

I was thinking a 64-71-13 or 16cm would be awesome for you and be a little better for driving.

I have NO complaints about mine, I dont even notice the lag but it doesnt cool enough. Even with stock sticks I could peg a 1500* guage with ease. Crusing I see 700-1000ish but pull a hard grade in 6th goin 55-60 and it will jump up to 1200.

The biggest diff in lag isnt gone be because of the 62-66 jump its gona be the 65-71 jump. Its not gona spool nearly as quick as the 62 but the ONLY reason I am gettin rid of my 66 is the egts are too high. I do everything with my truck included towin heavy and I can honestly say the lag isnt an issue for ME.

And I would have to agree. Keep what you got. Find a deal on an S400, possible used or even a K31 and get a twins set up.
