Well I have had 2 AFE stage2 PG7 setups, I was stupid and sold the first one, this one I bought used for $250 locally. Yes, mine has the metal top plate, box and tube. They come that way. The new one I purchased came oiled, the used one I had to clean then "charge" it. They dry quickly if you use a fan.

Now as for oil in the tube, I havent noticed any oil or dirt. (white glove test) Also happy birthday hope it has been a great one so far. Ill hoist a cold one to ya when I get off my **** and get another one.

I tend to think that what's used on big rigs is the way to go for the meager power output (most of us) of our little trucks. Big rigs use paper filters.

[QUOTE=LFD2037;2260871]A filter "prefilter"(can't remember what they are actually called) that is H2O resistant will stop a whole lot of the H2O getting to a dry filter, maybe as much, or more, as oil on an oiled filter. QUOTE]

This is a good point, but you can use a pre-filter to help trap dirt and water on an oiled one too, so I would imaginge that there is no way to get the same water protection from a dry filter as an oiled one provides.

I was told by quite a few people, not scientists mind you, that said oiled filters on turbo diesel trucks is a NO-NO. Just my $.02. By the way, when are ya'll come down south next?

I was told this by a highly recognized diesel service technician. I had a K&N drop in for a while (prior to DTR) and he said "get it out of there as quick as you can or you will suck oil/dust in through the turbo". I didn't really think about it but if you are sucking oil through, any dust attached to that oil would also be sent through.

Me and boss need to come do a show and shine down thar with you sometime. Thers a couple local guys that want to hang out too. Maybe we can coax Mike(XLR8R) Lazar to come drink an adult bev. and tell us what to do to our trucks next. Glad to hear you like Jr. revo. I used to have a Sr. on my 05 and when it was stolen i drove around stock till Bosshogg made me go for it. Its kinda like when you have to put a dog down and you don't want another one. Some times it takes a friend to get you back in the saddle.

I dig my AFE Mega Cannon that I bought as a value pack. I have been running the dry w/prefilter for 20k miles and check the tube every oil change, NO DUST or film whatsoever. I want to clean the dry filter, will run the gold PG-7...does it come preoiled from the factory?
