Well I have had 2 AFE stage2 PG7 setups, I was stupid and sold the first one, this one I bought used for $250 locally. Yes, mine has the metal top plate, box and tube. They come that way. The new one I purchased came oiled, the used one I had to clean then "charge" it. They dry quickly if you use a fan.
Now as for oil in the tube, I havent noticed any oil or dirt. (white glove test) Also happy birthday hope it has been a great one so far. Ill hoist a cold one to ya when I get off my **** and get another one.

[QUOTE=LFD2037;2260871]A filter "prefilter"(can't remember what they are actually called) that is H2O resistant will stop a whole lot of the H2O getting to a dry filter, maybe as much, or more, as oil on an oiled filter. QUOTE]
This is a good point, but you can use a pre-filter to help trap dirt and water on an oiled one too, so I would imaginge that there is no way to get the same water protection from a dry filter as an oiled one provides.

A filter "prefilter"(can't remember what they are actually called) that is H2O resistant will stop a whole lot of the H2O getting to a dry filter, maybe as much, or more, as oil on an oiled filter. It would be interesting to see a scientific 'test' to see how much oil actually gets sucked off the oiled filters. I was told by quite a few people, not scientists mind you, that said oiled filters on turbo diesel trucks is a NO-NO. Just my $.02. By the way, when are ya'll come down south next?
I was told this by a highly recognized diesel service technician. I had a K&N drop in for a while (prior to DTR) and he said "get it out of there as quick as you can or you will suck oil/dust in through the turbo". I didn't really think about it but if you are sucking oil through, any dust attached to that oil would also be sent through.

I dig my AFE Mega Cannon that I bought as a value pack. I have been running the dry w/prefilter for 20k miles and check the tube every oil change, NO DUST or film whatsoever. I want to clean the dry filter, will run the gold PG-7...does it come preoiled from the factory?
