Boss you and Tom are right. I being an avid ATV, UTV and bike rider I know the importance of having an oiled filter as dust isn't always visible to the eye, or water for that matter sometimes.
The AFE stg 2 is a complete intake all the way to the turbo. You may need to look hard because most vendors are seling the ProDry kits and you probably need the oiled filter (IMO any 4x4 owner that uses their trucks needs an oiled filter).

I have the oiled filter, in all my trucks. I have roughly 175,000 on afe stg 1 for a 7.3l, which is still going strong. Afe stg II is the way to go with the your truck.

XXL, nope you don't need any type of tube, the STG 2 goes all the way to the turbo, I believe it's called the Pro guard 5 or something 5 the pro guard 7 is also the oiled filter, but it has 7 layers of element, the 5 just flows better and filters less. Let me look it up.

when I remove the air box and the rest of the ring and install the stage 2...do I do anything else? I know I plug up the mass air back in the new intake but is that it? Does it throw any codes at first? If so I assume the ecm learns? And last can I clear the codes with the jr or does the jr do it itself? Thanks

You wont need anything else, it should all come with what you need. Yes plug the mass air back in, but you shouldn't see any codes...but if you do yes your Jr. will erase it....but you know dis!

i like my volant huge difference in turbo...but they are pricey and i had a buddy who worked at a parts store soo it didnt hurt too bad but i will be honest....the closed box is nice but there are 2 problems i have had so far...
1. there is a whole on the underside of the box used for the ram air tube you can add to the kit...well that whole apparently loves water because i cant seem to keep the water out...
and 2. if you dont put the filter in just right on mine, the lid wont seal completely and when you dont notice it right away the lid will bend on you due to the heat under the hood after time...
with that said i agree with the choice of the afe...but i am too much of a penny pincher to go out and buy another 300 intake...just my .02
