Also the truck will still get with it I mean burn tire and make full boost and run at least 80%. I also thought valve or cracked ring. Maybe even week valve springs due to cam?
Had an 06 a while back who burned down #5 piston and had the same symptoms you are having. #5 injector stuck open on it

Pulled #1 injector out tonight tip looked ok a little black but I would say thats from the unburned fuel. Pulled #2 it was muck cleaner. Put a rubber tipped air gun down injector hole on 1 and 2 which turned motor over but still got some air in crankcase nothing coming out of intake or exhaust.(There goes my easy fix) I guess the next thing I need to do is get a compression check done on motor and probably send injectors off to have them flow tested. I was wondering if I should even mess with paying for a compression test or just tear the motor down see what I got and put rings in it regardless?

Also now that I think about it in February when coming back from tst the truck started missing real bad and running like crap. I pulled all the electronics off and it still did it, drained fuel filter and still was missing, got back to motel checked codes with Triple Dog and it read fuel group1. Later started truck and ran fine up till a week or two ago when noticing some white smoke on start which end up to were I'm at now.

Other than the mechanical tinging sound, it sounds a lot like the problems I am having. I just assumed it was a scored cylinder wall on my truck. Like I said in an earlier post the last two injectors just stuck shut, so no diesel in the oil on those two. I hope I can just hone the cylinder and replace the rings in the offending cylinder.
