OK, now I don't feel so weird about thinking the same thing. I SWEAR my truck seems so must faster after the first oil change, at 6500 miles, and also a reflash. Before, seemed like I had to have more throttle to make the truck go. Now, not even about 1/4 inch of throttle to maintain 65. I dig it even more with my Quadzilla race chip on setting 3 and the reflash

I heard that DC programmed it to do that. it will be a dog at first, but once you get some miles on it, performance gets better.
I don't know for a fact that it is true- just what I heard.

I noticed better performance after the 1st oil change and some good hauls too. The other thing I have noticed is that there are a lot of guys reporting a couple of codes that happen right around 2K - like the P0191 and the manual trannys, even though it is relative to rail pressure - and after they get the flash, they report a lot better performance, and those with rail pressure gauges report a slightly higher rail pressure. Same stuff, starts out like a dog, etc. After the flash my truck spooled up faster had lots of room in the gears that it did not have in the beginning. Maybe they do have some programming that is limiting until some mileage points, lets things break in a little first with some things turned down.
When I installed a turbo in my Miata, it was Greddy's suggestion that you put on at least 1K, not exceed a certain rpm, to break the thing in. Maybe the newer computers are capable in their programming, of doing what we cannot - stay within certain limits to properly break in things and then open up some stuff later on?
As far as better performance after doing some towing, I kind of thought that getting rid of the load on your butt would make it feel better in performance when in fact it was just about losing the load drag. I read somewhere that the thought about the towing stuff was rediculous as the engines compression, etc is the same regardless of load. That did make sense as you do not see changes in oil pressure with real-time gauges, only elevations in egt's.

no joke. I tires break loose easier, etc....it helps these engines to work 'em.
I ride around with a buddy in his 06 alot...after he got back from towing 8000 pounds across the state for 2 days, his truck felt lots stronger. That wasnt because i had ridden in it loaded down either...before and after, acceleration improved!
