I just bought an 06! Mod time...
Hello all, this is my first 3rd gen post. I just bought an 06 and was wondering what is the best box or programmer out there. I plan to run one by itself for awile before I do any stacking. I plan to take the cat and muffler off the exhaust, get gauges and do something with the airbox. Do you 3rd gen guys run BHAFs? What is the best air intake? - Chris

congrats on the '06. I love mine.
I'm a huge fan of the TST with boost limiter and cool down. It now should have a little added pressure to boot. Then when you get all your parts built properly, look at the smarty. I saw two different trucks shave .3 and .4 off their times just by putting the smarty on their trucks. One of them I know, already had the MP8 stacked on it. It apparently fuels like a monster in the low end. I don't think its ready yet for the '06, but you got awhile.
As far as air boxes, the AFE Stage II is just beautiful, but it is ungodly expensive for what you get. If your gonna be popping the hood a shows, its a nice piece to have. Even comes with a piece of diamond plated black powdercoated metal for a lid with an AFE emblem on top. Looks sharp.
Good luck with your build.

I put an AEM on my '06 the other day. I am really liking the way the turbo whistles now. It was $245 shipped. I've driven about 210 miles with it, and the overhead MPG (which isn't accurate) is already reading 1.0MPG more than it was prior to putting it on. The installation was very simple.
As far as the box or programmer I don't know... Haven't made it there on my truck yet. Muffler's going this week... Think I'll keep the kitty just to see how it sounds. I do recommend the fuel tank vent... What a huge difference in time it makes at the pump! Well worth the time it took to put it on!!!
