I am thinking of getting an ATS commander, what other options do I have?

I am thinking of getting an ATS commander, main reason is for towing and exhaust brake that I will be getting. But after some reading, I am thinking it will help me in quartermile too, is that accurate? Is there and cavets that I should be aware of? Also is there other options out there instead of the ATS unit?

Thanks Guys

Kev,

The Commander was replaced some time ago with the Co-Pilot. It works better than the Commander. They are a little tricky to get adjusted but once you get it just right you'll be very pleased. And yes,... it will definitely help your performance. A side issue,.. but you're not running the BD Top
Speed Eliminator are you? The BD uses a couple of the same connections that the Co-Pilot does and it caused me a lot of problems until I was up at ATS getting my new A2k on my twins and they discovered the problem. It has been working flawless ever since. I disconnected the BD and have since found there are a couple fuses you can pull to get the same top speed elimination result without it. I believe they are #'s 6 & 35. They are both something to do with ABS.

Make your own for less than 5 bucks if you can live without the brake feature.

i have it, gave me 2 tenths, you can definatly feel it, only thing i dont like is it automatically locks the converter when you let of unless your going really slow and it kind of gives you a jerking feeling.

I would love to switch those ABS fuses...

Anyone done it yet? Which side is "hot"?

I better go start a new thread...sorry.

Had both the commander and now the Co Pilot. You can sure feel the difference. The Co pilot is WAY more drivable in town. Never checked my times but my "seat of the pants" meter pegs every time I get a chance to drive my rig. (Wife drives it now, I got stuck with a company truck)

Sorry, I can't speak to your options but you won't be sorry with the ATS unit

all you need is a switch and a 30ohm resistor. Put one side to ground and tap the wire on the trans. Flip the switch when you want it locked!!!
