Nothing like a bit of drama on your vacation.

Hello. When the tabs broke, the pedal laid on the floor and the master was no longer attached to the firewall, it was in the engine compartment. So I could not disengage the clutch.

John, sorry for the mixup & thanks for the clarification.

I think it was me that got mixed up thinking it was the slave cylinder that failed.

I'm surprised that the SB hydraulic clutch assembly is plastic.
I wonder if there is a way to reinforce the plastic tabs to prevent this from happening again.

You know, I have wondered if my pedal pressure is correct for a 3250. I met a guy at the Crude Diesel Drags event in Bakersfield. He had a truck like mine. He was curious about the 3250DD, as he had recently purchased an OFE. I told him to take it for a spin. He was shocked at how much harder it was to push the pedal in.

Does that sound right, the 3250DD should be that much harder than the OFE single to disengage?

Hello guys. I just called SB. Peter is on vacation until the 21st. The man I talked too said that I should be fine for a couple weeks, driving around and I should call Peter when I get back.

He did say that 90% of the time it was installed improperly. I told him that it has popped off before. I did have the lil' gasket between the firewall, and I even had a big zip tie keeping the cyl. from spinning again as a safety measure.

I also shared that the first time I put the cyl. on it spun all the way into place quite easily. This MC was much harder to spin into -place

Same here on 3250 dd south bend. 40 minutes stop and go traffic and master broke in the same manner, lucky i was only 1 block from the house.
I too find that the sb master is a looser fit to the firewall than the stock unit. Sent e mail to peter 3 months ago-the day it happened with no response to date. Usually he has been more than cooperative.

I have always heard that SB has great customer service, that is why I am waiting to hear from Peter when he returns. I am assuming/expecting he will send me a good hydraulic unit that will work. It definitely was not an installation error, I popped it in and it spun into position and stopped with ease.

I did have to buy 87 octane gas for 222 miles (wife's K2500 Suburban). And I did buy a hydraulic set up that I was hoping would work & get me home. It did, but now it is not returnable to the Dodge dealer and it is not suited for my application. Staying another night at the campground was a whopping $19.

I wonder what the response is too. I have a 3600 and it is quite a bit stiffer than the stocker.

Sounds like Peter needs to source out a bullet proof clutch slave cylinder mechanism to compliment his clutch assemblies. Hopefully of metal this time. If it costs $100.00 more so be it. There's got to be a fabricator that needs the work in these slow times. I couldn't imagine putting out $1,000+ for clutch parts and have a weak part like this strand me. Bogus.

The SB slave faired fine & dandy. Though it is plastic, it is beefier than the stocker. The cylinder is thicker and the plastic flange is thicker as well. The plastic flange also has a metal flange on the outside. I noticed a socket had much more room on the stock slave cyl. compared to the SB piece.

Has anyone measured the clutch pressure required to push in the clutch with a SB DD 3250? I know it is much more then stock. It sounds like it is more then the single disk setups. I am worry that the plastic pin on the clutch pedal does not break. It sure makes a growling noise each time the pedal is pushed in.

What clutch ar you running? I have never heard of the pin busting. I think they run the stock, plastic pin on the 3850's and maybe even the 4200's.
