HTT 71 62 with 13 ss or 16 ss housing?

Can I spool the 16 cm stainless housing or should I stick with the 13 cm stainless housing? I live at 5k feet and tow up from there. Any opinions?

I am not sure why you would not use a 64/13 before a 62/16 unless you are building a loose turbo for big spray?

To be honest I'm not sure about anything these days. I feel like I'm taking wild stabs in the dark.

I think I'll just stick to the 62/13 with the 71mm wheel and call it good. My problem up here is my EGT's are out of control and I just need to get them in control so I can drive the **** thing instead of worrying about it all of the time. Maybe an intercooler will help as well.

I could control surge with an A5k above 2k...

I am sure you could control it above 1600 with a 64.

It really is not that big of a turbo...mine is kinda cute! ;-)

You must be running a 64 as your top? They are going to upgrade my 62 into the 62/71/13ss for a very reasonable price so I think I will try this route first. If I don't like it maybe I'll have Nathan build a set using that as my top this Fall.

check your back pressure and ensure your drive ratio is as close to 1/1 this will help deternine what size turbo you need and weather you need a low pressure drive wheel..... i know your feeling about stabbing in the dark..... These turbos are not going to lower your egts..... I dont care what anyone tells you, if you put it on kill your egts are going to sky rocket, i own the 62/13 and there is very little difference to stock? On Monday i will have the 64 and report from there. This site has some very knowledge people that have been very helpful in figuring this turbo out, and HTT will walk you through there thoughts as well. At the end of the day you just have to try it if you cant find all your answers?

So you expect to lower your EGT's with the 64?

yes but not the 300 400 degrees like all the hype would suggest.... I also think that without a really good intercooler i wont be able to use this turbo to it's full advantage...... but once again until someone has this set up and has real world data its all speculation. In my case if they dont come down enough someone will be the owner of a new stainless turbo but that someone wont be me!

Ours spools at like 1900 rpm, I don't know what the deal is. We have tried the hot juice and beta smarty, doesn't seem to make a difference. I hope it loosens up or somethin, we went with the 64 with the idea that the ss would provide the spool of a 62. I guess we'll just keep drivin it for now.

Water is free for cooling...aftermarket intercoolers in reality don't drop the EGT's more than 100 degrees at best....water will drop it 200 degrees and add 40 straight hp or 100hp by allowing more fueling. ks
