I criuse at about 900 too with my 66 but I dont notice much lag at all, not enough to bother me though. Maybe you got a bad acuator to and you will have an easy fix.

Just tried the vice grip trick and didn't notice a difference while cruising at 70mph. Still at about 900*, but as Will said that sounds normal. What boost do you see while running at 70? Mine is only 2psi...seems kinda low.

I doubt it is higher than 2. I realize my turbo, while similar is still a bit differant than yours, I was just kinda sayin that a bigger turbo will do the stuff that you have mentioned but the lag seems a bit excessive to me. I want to think if I am at 1800 rpms and mash the go pedal it leaves like a rocket but much lower than that and it has some lag to it but nothing excessive. I thought these new turbos would easily out spool the old PSs and SPSs

Will has a G56 too so he probably has higher RPM's then you at cruising???
is it easier to drive around the big turbo lag with a standard trans???

Depends on the tire size J is runin. But yeah, I run pretty high rpms, thats why I love it when somebody wants some on the interstate. My truck is just beggin to get floored crusin at 22-2500 rpms and I am more than happy to do it.

In general it is easier to drive around a big single with a standard but IMO both have there plusses and minuses. Like I loose boost between shifts but an auto doesnt.

Well, if I'm cruising at 1900 RPM's and mash the pedal it will take off with very little lag. I tried rolling into it from 70mph and was at 80+mph before I got the pedal all the way to the floor. It's really just when taking off or in the lower RPM's. I only tried that one 2wd launch yesterday so it's hard to say. Maybe I just need more time to get used to it.

j, I am gona go with your threory about gettin used to it. You gotta give up performance in some areas to gain in others (unless you run twins). I think in a week or two you wont even notice it much anymore and you can just drive around it.
