I'm not really planning a HP level... I just wanna beat John P!

No, to be honest, I just want to keep building up until it becomes impractical... (like, having to take the truck to schieds and dropping 30k on it)

My sig says what I want to do. I think around there I'll be good. Maybe 650-700 on diesel? Is that asking too much from stock internals?

I'd go w/ a 62 or 64/71/14 if I could do it again.

Yeah, that's what I'm leanin toward now. I have a friend with an 05 with a 62 71 12, and he says it spools a little late, but not too bad. He does have aftermarket sticks, too. He's on here, Nsomniac05.

So, looks like it's a 64 71 14 if I can afford it...

I got people lookin...

Thanks, all, and keep the thoughts comin.

Nope, you can go quite a bit higher than that... I have stock internals and while I have not dyno'd yet, 4 different HP calculators (from 1/4 mile) put me anywhere from upper 700's to mid 800's...

the 62/65/14 htb2 is a great turbo

very little loss of spool in the larger 14cm housing , and better suited to handle warm temps for higher program settings & top end pull 14cm is much improved over the 12 cm housing !

i'm really happy with my htt 62/71/13ss. the 13ss housing is suppose to spool like a 12 and cool like a 14, so that's something to consider. it spool slightly slower than the stocker and cruises at a little higher egt's but once it lights it rips. i'm very happy with the top end and my egt's stay in check at WOT

Mad,

I think you and I are in the same place right now, I need to order a turbo today so I can get it here this weekend for install and I can't decide. I'm stuck on the HTT62/65/13ss vs SPS62/71. Ultimately I want to get to twins down the road in a year or two, but for now I need to get the power up and the egt's down while towing my horse trailer. Now I love smoke as much as the next guy but its a PITA when I'm going through the hills smokin out the poor horses.

So I'm torn get the HTT 62/65/13ss and have the quicker spool and possibly suffer on the top end with EGT's or go with a SPS62/71 and spool slower and blow smoke on the low end but have the better cooling on the top end with more power????

I've been researching this for months and its driving me nuts. Not to mention I need to find a shop that has either of these in stock ready to ship.

Good luck with your search i know I'll be following this thread closely.

Call Nathan at mpi and he can tell you what would be best for twins later. But I would think HTT just cause of the waste gates, and I dont think there will be enough diff in performance from either of those 2 turbos to stress about it now. Just my .02

The 14...the 12 is too small.

A 64/65/13 would work great for you later in twins as well.

He might not get it to your house today, if that's what you're looking for...

HTT through Lary...

Don't think that just because it's not in the store that he can't beat the price sometimes...
