Ht3b or s400
Guys, what do you think about hanging an ht3b under my he351 rather than an s400? I found a guy selling a turbo listed as a "Garrett HT3B" but i was under the impession that holeset manufactured it? Quick replies appreciated I wanna make a move before its gone.
This is the description on his posting thanks
Garret HT3B turbocharger is in very good condition, spins freely and does not seem to have much if any play, I believe it came off of a Cummins NTC engine. I bought this turbo to build a twin turbo setup for my dodge truck but after I got the turbo I lost interest.
The tag on the housing reads:
Garrett Remanufactured
Model:HT3B
P/N:144404-9000
S/N:BJM0001

Ht3b's were made by a number of mfg's including garrett. I had a garrett bht3b at one point.
Those are older tech turbos and the advice here is you will do much better with a s400.
The ht3b is a very reliable unit. It is not the most responsive though. Unless it is next to free on cost, I'd pass.

Also, I should mention this is a reverse direction turbo. Meaning you would have to find custom piping (can't use s400 piping) and may cost you more in the long run.

You have to buy a new manifold. Look at a number of other twin setups closely before attempting to do this yourself. There are a lot of little details to pay attention to. It is more than welding a couple of pipes together.
The manifold to use is a 2nd gen t-3 turned upside down. There are a number of good choices.
